Spent 4 days that went by way to fast. Can't wait to go back, and for more then 4 days. Sammy, Carnetta, the dogs Rusty and Kahlua are perfect. (bring bug replenent). Total relaxation! We just returned from a trip to Sammy's on Cat Island. We went for a week to celebrate our anniversary and didn't want to leave. The resort is beautiful and Sammy and his staff are wonderful! The freshly prepared food is fantastic! This is THE place to relax and unwind. The beach and water are clean and clear and the sunsets every night are amazing. We just returned from celebrating our anniversary at Sammy T's. We had never been to the Out Islands and weren't sure what to expect. We had the most relaxing and beautiful vacation that we could have imagined. Sammy, his staff and the Cat Island residents are among the friendliest and welcoming people we have ever met. The resort is beautiful, we had wonderful food and enjoyed our time with everyone we met. "SAMMY IS THE MAN!"
My family and I had the great fortune to visit Sammy T's for a fine dinner during our stay on Cat Island this the first week of March. I must say that it was indeed the high point of out stay on this fine island. Sammys hospitality on an island known for just that was delightful. He and his staff went out of there way to accommodate us even though we had not stayed at his place, a mistake I will not repeat. Next trip back to Cat we will be at Sammy's ! - New Jersey

"A WONDERFUL, WELCOMING, BEAUTIFUL HAVEN"
We highly recommend Sammy T's without hesitation. Sammy Thurston is the resident owner and consummate host of Sammy T's Beach Resort on Cat Island. In over 35 years of holiday travel in the Caribbean we have never had a more positive experience. From Sammy's personal warmth and openness to his staff's heartfelt attentiveness - it was a delightful two weeks. The resort is on a lovely, isolated, west facing beach property with six comfortable villas, spread so well in the landscaped grounds that you feel you have the place to yourself.  The restaurant is the best on the island thanks to the cooking skills of Carnetta, Sammy's resident chef. We ate very well every night (the best tomatoes I have ever had, locally grown) to a background of some nice jazz and washed down with a nice bottle of wine.  George makes certain your needs are cared for and connects you to all the local options (for example we went fishing with Captain Bill on his boat out of Bennetts Harbor - five minutes from Sammy's and caught seven fish (George gutted them and Carnetta cooked them and we ate two of the Snapper that night).  The beach is a spotless crescent of icing sugar soft sand. The water is crystal clear for swimming and kayaking. The grounds are landscaped with the local flora - bougainvillea, night scented jasmine, orchids, oleander etc).  Cat Islanders renewed our faith in common friendliness and WE CANT WAIT TO COME BACK. - Boston, MA

"WONDERFUL HOST"
Sammy saved my husband and I from a horrible experience at another island resort. Sammy (and all of his staff) welcomed us like old friends. We felt so comfortable in the classy and cozy cottage and loved the beautiful landscaping. The beach itself is a private cove and it is kept clean of any refuse that washes up. The entire resort is classy, inviting, and relaxing and is all about being calm and enjoying Cat Island. Sammy has a wonderful collection of Bahamian art which adds to the ambiance. Eat as much as you can as the food at Sammy's is WONDERFUL!! Everyone who works at the resort made us feel welcome and comfortable. I would recommend Sammy T's to anyone who wants a wonderful and authentic Cat Island experience. - Asheville, NC

"BEST RESORT ON CAT ISLAND"
We stayed with Sammy T over Xmas/New Year 2004/2005. This place is a total paradise! You have your own secluded long beach facing West for wonderful sunsets. Sammy is the most thoughtful host you can imagine. Accommodation/cottages are tastefully furnished with DVD player and all amenities. Great and courteous staff. The food is outstanding - try the stuffed lobster tail. One week’s stay went by like a dream. THE place to relax in the Bahamas! - Toronto, Canada

The brochure for Sammy T's Beach Resort says "Awaken your Soul". That says it all. I just recently returned from my first family reunion on Cat Island with a big satisfying & relaxed smile on my face. I will definitely return. Everyone was friendly, the accommodations& food was great and the clear white sand beach was magnificent. Make sure you take mosquito repellent. "ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!"
SammyT's resort on Cat island is absolutely wonderful! Great get-away..little bit of heaven on earth. Attention is paid to every detail. Great food, people and ambiance at SammyT's. He meets your every need, we requested special meals, rides around town and fishing excursions and all our needs were met. The cottages are new and beautiful, I could live in one those beautiful cottages. The most beautiful beach (pristine) with the greatest sunsets just outside your cottage. The restaurant on site is fantastic (great artwork inside). The cook Carneeta made us great meals..try the conch..it's great. If your lucky enough to try her macaroni and cheese...you'll want it at every meal..it's great!. The water, beaches, people and SammyT's was extraordinary. I can't say enough about how friendly and beautiful Cat Island is. Stay at SammyT's and enjoy Cat island...we're going to make this a yearly trip.!! - saint clair shores, MI
